Hi! I’m Emilie Pullar, the self-taught pasta specialist behind The Burnt Butter Table. I’ve spent years testing doughs, sauces, and techniques in my own kitchen to help you master everything from simple weeknight pasta sauces to handmade ravioli.

Every recipe is clearly explained and tested, so you can feel confident making restaurant quality pasta at home.

    My Pasta Story

I’ve always loved Italian food, especially pasta, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I truly fell in love with the process of making it from scratch. At the time I was running my own fashion business and rarely had time to cook, then came lockdowns! I suddenly had the time to pursue this passion.

What started as a hobby quickly turned into an obsession! Learning the science of doughs, testing shapes, and studying techniques from Italian chefs and pasta makers all over the world.

Through years of trial and error (and plenty of flour on the kitchen floor!), I built The Burnt Butter Table to share what I’d learned, making pasta approachable, fun, and endlessly delicious for home cooks everywhere.

    Why learn from me

I’m a self-taught pasta specialist who’s spent years perfecting doughs, sauces, and techniques in my own kitchen. Because I learned by doing, I know where beginners get stuck and I explain every step in a way that actually makes sense.

Every recipe you find here has been tested, refined, and is now loved by thousands of readers around the world. Whether you’re hand shaping ravioli or tossing dried pasta through a creamy sauce, I’ll help you understand the why behind each step so you can master it yourself.

    Where to start

    For making homemade pasta

If you are here to learn how to make homemade pasta then I highly suggest starting with a hand rolled shape. Shapes like Pici or Gnocchi Sardi need little equipment and are flour and water doughs, making them easy to handle. When you are ready you'll head to my Homemade Pasta Dough recipe which is my rigorously tested egg pasta dough recipe that works every time. Check out my FAQs page too!

    For a delicious pasta sauce

My recipe section is filled to the brim with delicious sauces. Go for something quick and simple like my reader favorites Creamy Tomato Pasta or Creamy Chicken Pasta. My personal favorites? My White Bolognese will blow you away and my Cacio e Pepe is my pride and joy!

Outside the kitchen you'll find me enjoying time with my number one taste tester (my husband Dave!) probably planning our next food filled trip!

Thanks for stopping by The Burnt Butter Table, I hope you leave inspired (and a little bit hungry)!
